Arts at St. John's are looking for several positions to be filled for our Jazz and Classical Concerts at St. Johns on the Lake United Methodist Church. Positions include (All volunteers get Community Service ours for School or other programs; refreshments will be provided for all volunteers; and 2 complementary tickets to the event[s]):
Ushers (2 per event)
- Responsible for seating audience, helping handicapped, setting up and cleaning up audience area before, during and after performances; monitor temperature in the hall, direct audience to restrooms, maintain order and silence in a hospitable and respectful way. Requirements. Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours; Must possess a helpful and hospitable personality with a eagerness to help
Greeter (1 per event)
-Responsible for handing out programs, surveys, fliers, and collecting/selling tickets; Closing and opening/Locking and unlocking all entry ways before and after the concert for audience safety and comfort. Requirements: Must possess great customer service skills and a hospitable, up-beat and positive personality
Concession volunteer
-Responsible for the maintenance of the concession area as well as all sales; restocking concession area; set-up/clean up of concession area. Requirements: Must be able to carry up to 30lbs, Must possess great customer service skills.
Parking Volunteer
-Responsible for directing patrons of ASJ events to parking areas on an near venue grounds. Holding or posting signs to direct drivers to parking areas. Requirements must be able to stand for at least 2 hours, must have a hospitable personality, must be able to speak loudly and direct people clearly with hand gestures.
We also have volunteer apprenticeship positions for up to 3 High School students in the following areas (Apprentices will receive their required community service hours; be given on-the-job practical training in their area of interest; will receive 2 complimentary tickets for every event of the season; and Receive Professional recommendations for future references):
Sound Engineer Apprentice
-will be trained how to set-up; operate; modify all audio for live performers of different styles; will be trained to work the sound for each event.
Lighting Engineer Apprentice
- will be trained how to set-up; operate; and modify all lighting equipment for a variety of shows; will learn how to program lighting for productions; will assist the Lighting Director by running spotlight(s) and giving/receiving lighting cues. Learn how to store and maintain lighting equipment
Program Director Apprentice
-will be trained in event coordinating and assisting in all related areas; will be trained to delegate volunteers as well as plans are in order and being executed in a timely matter. This position will give direct experience of deadlines, program planning and execution, as well as making announcements during each event about ASJ events and audience instructions.

All volunteer times for these events will be Sundays at 1:30pm - 5pm
All Apprenticeship times will vary based on availability but will include the volunteer time as listed above.
All Events are music concerts and will be located at St. Johns on the Lake United Methodist Church @ 4760 Pine Tree Drive, Miami, FL 33141 in the Sanctuary.
