| Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida | Chipollino The ballet “Chipollino”, which Issaev choreographed to music by Russian composer K. Katchaturian, is based on Gianni Rodari's tale about vegetables. The story of a naughty "green onion" character called Chipollino is very popular in Russia. The ballet was first premiered with Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, later Ballet Juvenil de Venezuela and in 1999 with Georgia Youth Ballet, with excellent reviews. Issaev's has renewed his choreography and entire production for his very exceptional dancers of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. He adapted the story making his own libretto of the story, in order to be more accessible to the American audiences. The acting takes place in a happy town Limonia where flowers, vegetables and fruits share their lives under the power of the mean Prince Lemon. Chipollino is the last name of a popular family of onions that live in a very happy village with many other vegetables. All is well in the village until the Chief of Police Tomato arrives to tell the villagers of a new law, stating that all villagers must pay for sunlight, rain and wind.
