Duties: Our internship program generally consists of assisting in the day to day inner-workings of the museum. Depending on the demand for interns, you are usually assigned to a department to report to that staff member daily. Interns are assigned to departments based on skill as well as departmental needs at the time you apply.

The departments you may be assigned to are: Education, Membership or Marketing with various side projects that range anywhere from sitting at the front desk or helping in the museum store, to assisting in curatorial department, to filing paperwork. We expect our interns to work full time, however, exceptions have been made in the past to accommodate a part time job outside of the museum.

For our summer interns specifically we ensure that they get to spend some time with every department in order to experience all museum positions. We may also organize field trips to other art organizations in order expand their view of Miami’s art scene.

Perks:
Ideal candidates possess a strong desire to gain experience planning and implementing arts-based activities and object based learning. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a series of professional development meetings, discussions and site visits to gain an understanding of the functions of various museum departments, and meet a network of peers in the greater Miami-Dade arts community.

Duties: Volunteers who are interested in joining the Horticulture Committee come in Monday mornings to meet with the staff Horticulturist and discuss tasks for the day. Perks: During the peak seasons during fall and winter, the Garden provides lunch to the Horticulture Committee provided the group is large enough to merit a food order. Staff and volunteers generally eat together indoors in the Butterfly Room.
